Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
Grace by definition means “just because.” You have been granted grace just because God loves you. In the book of Ephesians 2:8-9, it is explained how God does not give you grace because of your works or good deeds, you received grace just because you are who you are. Now that is something to stop and celebrate! There is no way to work your way into more favor; you already have it. Many times we believe that if we just go above and beyond to receive affirmation of their value from other people, we would feel better about ourselves. In these attempts to curve the “wand of worthiness,” in our direction we overextend ourselves hoping it will somehow work to make us look better in the eyes of others and therefore make us feel more valued. No, no, no that’s not how it works. You don’t have to kill yourself trying to get others’ approval; you’ve had it all along from the very source that created you. Did you know that there were four hundred million other sperm fighting for the same life you now take for granted? And you won! You are a miracle. You were enough then and you are enough now; No matter your circumstances, no matter how many times you have fallen flat on your face, no matter you past mistakes and no matter what other’s have said about you. I know your heart has been broken and the odds feel like they have been stacked against you but within you lives the heart of a champion, who knows how to win and who is valuable. You’ve got this! Yes, YOU! YOU ARE ENOUGH. Stop beating yourself up, stop listening to the negative chatter and stop being so down on yourself. YOU ARE ENOUGH!
